City of Sanctuary

Support Services

The following services are available to all local groups to support your work. To benefit from these services, your group simply needs to apply for a group area on our website.

1. Local website pages

The national City of Sanctuary website has the facility to create a section for each local group. Each section can contain pages of local information, news articles, discussion forums, and pictures and audio files.
To use this facility you will need at least one person from your group to take responsibility for updating your web pages using simple web forms. No technical knowledge is required and free training and support is available.

2. Email facilities

We can provide ‘cityofsanctuary.org’ email addresses for local working group members. Our website also has the facility for sending email newsletters to your supporters.

3. Publicity materials

We will be producing a range of leaflets, posters, letterheads etc which can be downloaded from the website and adapted for local use.

4. Public speakers

We can offer speakers on City of Sanctuary for public meetings or media interviews.

5. National network meeting

We hold a national network meeting in a different location every 2-3 months, where local groups can share ideas and discuss strategy. Representatives from all working groups are welcome to attend.

6. Co-ordinator

The National Co-ordinator is available to offer information, advice and networking support.

7. Handbook

We have published a complete guide to building a local City of Sanctuary initiative – ‘Becoming a City of Sanctuary: a practical handbook with inspiring examples’. It including tips on giving a City of Sanctuary talk, organising public events, and developing grassroots support, as well as case studies of successful projects around the country.
